Philippines Grants Taiwanese Tourists 14-Day Visa-Free Entry to Boost Tourism

The Philippines has decided to prolong its existing visa-free entry program for Taiwanese nationals until June 30 next year, a move aimed at boosting tourism and enhancing cultural exchanges between the two regions. This extension retains the 14-day visa-free entry that was implemented last year, allowing Taiwanese passport holders to visit the Philippines for short durations without the need for a visa. However, those who wish to stay beyond the 14-day limit will still be required to apply for a visa prior to their arrival.

This decision aligns with the Philippine government’s strategy of maintaining reciprocal visa arrangements, as Taiwan provides similar visa-free access to Philippine passport holders. By fostering these mutual agreements, both countries aim to strengthen bilateral relations and encourage travel between their citizens.

In addition to this visa-free policy, the Philippines is actively working to attract more Taiwanese tourists by expanding flight connections and highlighting travel opportunities beyond well-known destinations like Palawan. The government is promoting diverse regions across the country to showcase unique travel experiences and increase interest in less-visited areas.

Tourism data indicates that the Philippines welcomed nearly 94,000 visitors from Taiwan in the first five months of the year, marking Taiwan as one of the leading sources of international tourists for the country. This figure represents an increase compared to the same period last year, reflecting the positive impact of the visa-free program and the growing interest among Taiwanese travelers in exploring the Philippines.
