Apple has unveiled a significant partnership with Broadcom, committing to a $30 billion investment to produce over 15 billion chips domestically in the United States. This initiative aims to bolster the U.S. semiconductor industry and expand Apple’s American supply chain, aligning with the tech giant’s strategy to establish a fully U.S.-based chip ecosystem encompassing both design and manufacturing. This large-scale investment is set to create numerous jobs and boost the production of advanced wireless technologies integral to Apple devices.

Central to the agreement is Broadcom’s plan to invest $1.5 billion into expanding and modernizing its manufacturing facility located in Fort Collins, Colorado. This facility will focus on producing advanced radio frequency components, such as FBAR filters, which are essential for enhancing wireless performance and connectivity in Apple products. The move underscores Apple’s commitment to fostering innovation and manufacturing within the United States.

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the company’s dedication to American manufacturing and innovation, highlighting the role of the advanced components produced in Colorado in meeting the high performance and connectivity standards expected by Apple customers. Cook expressed pride in reinforcing Apple’s investment in U.S.-based suppliers that prioritize advanced technology and high-quality manufacturing processes.

Broadcom CEO Hock Tan also expressed enthusiasm for the expanded partnership, noting that the company shares Apple’s commitment to strengthening American innovation and manufacturing capabilities. This collaboration marks a step forward in the broader context of Apple’s previously announced $600 billion U.S. investment plan, which includes increasing manufacturing capacity, developing artificial intelligence server facilities in Texas, and creating more high-skilled jobs across the nation.
